It's true, I slept through the festivities on International Women's Day, so I had to celebrate tonight, as, in a twist of fate, I swiped my badge into the Mission Control Center. See, one cannot casually take a 'Women's Day Off' when she is scheduled to fly the International Space Station!
But I wouldn't want to anyway.
In the midst of all this political turmoil there is something to be said about a woman doing her job, no matter what, because she is certified, and more importantly TRUSTED to fly the world's most complicated spacecraft ...
call me old fashioned, but I feel like that type of follow through speaks just as loud as taking a day off. (But I DID wear red, which is a significant move in a Flight Control Room, so there!).
