Gentlemen, Move Over, Cause There's A LADY In The MTT

Yup, you heard that right. And so did the pilots...through their headsets...as I talked with them on Tuesday. Wow.

After being somewhat "persuaded" to run coms for the 30-30 (a maintenance flight that consists of a 30 minute ground run and a 30 minute hover), I was super nervous. What if I screwed up the lingo? What if I pushed the button and it got stuck? What if I tripped over my words? What if I talked to much (I hear this all the time from the guys about women talking to much...haha)? What if I threw up? What was I going to do if something bad happened?

Obviously, I was insanely nervous even though this wasn't even really a "test" flight. But as we walked into the MTT (mobile telemetry trailer for those who aren't keeping up with all the acronyms) I put my game face on. The guys in the seats needed me (ok, they probably didn't for this flight, but they might in the future) and I had to prove to them and myself that I could handle it, that I was ready for the challenge and that I could enjoy the jokes about my "sweet voice" when it was all done.

And folks..........it.....was......awesome!!!!!!! I feel like my bowl of ingredients is filling up with all the stuff I need to be a real engineer: I've got a clipboard, with plots and data, flight cards, calculator, plenty of pencils and now the confidence to be "The Voice of the MTT".
